John Schoenherr, RIP

Locus online has announced the death of artist John Schoenherr (1935 to 8 April 2010). Schoenherr painted covers for SF magazines, notably Astounding/Analog, but also worked on other publications such as Amazing, F&SF, and Fantastic. He also painted covers for Ace and Pyramid. In 1965 he won a Hugo, and a Caldecott Medal in 1988. There is a whole lot more on Schoenherr on the BPIB website, including many fabulous reproductions of his wildlife oil paintings.
