The British Fantasy Awards are now open for recommendations for 2008. Forms will be sent with
the next Prism mailing , you can simply email your recommendations
to bfsawards@britishfantasysociety.org, or
complete the online form below. Deadline for recommendations is 1st May 2008.
How to make a Recommendation...
The recommendation form for the 2008 British Fantasy Awards is now online.
You may download the form and post in your recommendations (for works first published in 2007),
or you may vote here.
You must be a current BFS member to participate in the recommendation and final voting process for the BFS Awards.

Please fill in your recommendations for the following categories of Award and send the form
below before 1st May 2008.
Please note, this is a recommendation form only. The final
voting forms will be circulated once the shortlist has been
announced, and an online voting form will be made available
at the time.
You can make as many recommendations as you wish in each
of the categories and you can send in more than one recommendations
form.
Remember: recommended items must have been first published in the English language in 2007. If you are unsure of the length of a work, please recommend it anyway and it will be placed in the appropriate category.
Please Note: You are not allowed to recommend your own published material. Any such recommendations will be ignored. BFS and FantasyCon publications are ineligible from the awards process, but note that the contents of such publications are eligible.
- Best Novel (August Derleth Award)
: please provide title, author and publisher (For works of over 40,000 words)
- Best Novella: please provide title, author and publisher (For works between 10,000 and 40,000 words)
- Best Short Fiction: please provide author, publisher and publication/issue number (For works of up to 10,000 words)
- Best Anthology: please provide editor(s) Title(s) and publisher(s) where known
- Best Collection: please provide author(s) Title(s) and publisher(s) where known
- Best Small Press: please provide editor and publisher
- Best Artist: the artist must have produced a single piece of artwork, or a body of such, in any medium, during 2006
- Best Non Fiction: State Author(s), Book/Article/Column Title(s), Publication and Publisher(s) where known.
- Karl Edward Wagner (Special) Award: this is decided
on by the BFS and FantasyCon Committees based on your recommendations.
It is not voted on by BFS members. Please therefore provide
a brief explanation for your recommendation in this category.
- Best Newcomer (The Sydney J. Bounds Award): Include Author(s), Title(s), Publication and Publisher(s), where known
Sponsored & funded by the estate of Sydney J. Bounds. The winner will receive a prize of £100.00.
Any recommendations without all the above information may
not be included on the final voting form without further explanation.
Remember - novels, short fiction, anthologies, collections
and small press items must have been first published in 2007.
If a novel, anthology or collection was first published outside
the UK in 2006 and was not published in the UK until 2007,
it is also eligible for the British Fantasy Award for 2008.
