BFS Short Story Competition 2020

This year we received a healthy crop of entries with 104 eligible stories submitted for consideration. The judging panel have worked very hard over the summer to read all of these, some more than once, and select winners. After much deliberation, I can now announce that the three winners are:

First place: ‘Thought Surgery’ by Richard Webb
Second place: ‘Fairy Cattle’ by Patrick Creek
Third place: ‘One Direction’ by Beverley Haddon

The top three stories win prizes and all three of the above stories will appear in issue 12 of “BFS Horizons”, which should be reaching members before the end of the year.

My deepest thanks go to our guest judges, Steven Poore, Lucy Hounsom, Megan Leigh and Charlotte Bond for taking on such a large task and working so hard to choose the winners. It has been a pleasure working with you. My thanks also to all who submitted stories to the competition. I look forward to reading your entries next year.
