Title: The Wheel of Time - Robert Jordan
Post by: Emma Rose on October 06, 2018, 12:22:30 pm
Hi folks!

Have any of you read The Wheel of Time series? A few people I know have started recently which is cool, but I don't have anyone to discuss it with at the mo so thought I'd put it out there on this forum! :)

It is a couple of years ago that I finished it, but it's stuck with me as a brilliant reading experience. Yes there were ups and downs (and I believe around book five it felt a bit like running up a hill haha) BUT worth it!

Like your friends, I’ve only recently come to Robert Jordan’s epic cycle. So far, I’ve only read THE EYE OF THE WORLD, so am not in much of a position to enter into a discussion on the series. But I was wondering, what should I read next? Should I go straight to Book #2 THE GREAT HUNT or should I read the WoT prequel, NEW SPRING? My favourite character from Book #1 is Moiraine Sedai; I think she’s a wonderful creation. I’d like to learn more about her, and understand that NEW SPRING is very much her ‘backstory’?

Super late replying, every now and then I remember to check this forum!

I haven't actually read the prequel - I didn't realise there were prequels! Shall hunt those down :)

Moiraine is a brilliant character! You probably have already gone onto your next book now, but her arc though the WOT is a good one, she's very mysterious and that adds to the appeal - so maybe I'd suggest reading the series first. What did you decide to do?

Actually, I haven't got any further with WoT. Plenty of other books in the pile to read first! I was minded to go for the prequel, NEW SPRING, next but having read your comments perhaps I'll opt for THE GREAT HUNT instead.
