Announcements and Suggestions / Recent Forum Outage
« on: October 19, 2016, 10:47:12 pm »
Just a quick post to apologise for the recent forum outage. This was caused by a routine server software update causing the rather old version of the forums software we were running to finally fall over in a fatal way.

This resulted in having to upgrade the forums to the latest version in order to solve the issue, a process that took rather longer than was originally expected.

However, the process has now been completed and with, it would seem from my checks, without any loss of data. I have some minor tweaks to make over the next couple of days, but nothing that should stop the forums from being used straight away.

If anyone does encounter any problems, please do contact me directly and I will do everything I can to resolve them.

Apologies for the outage any inconvenience that may have caused.

- Neil.

Just a quick note to say that the BFS website and forums will be offline from approximately 12:00 BST on Saturday May 23, for a period of 24 to 48 hours, to allow for essential server maintenance to be carried out.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Announcements and Suggestions / Website Updates
« on: March 06, 2014, 09:18:08 pm »
The website is undergoing some changes. We have installed a new theme and are in the process of configuring it and ironing out the bugs. It is a work in progress and may take a few days before it settles down.

The existing events calendar plugin decide to throw a monumental fit and disappear up its own fundamental orifice. It has been retired and a new one installed in it's place. However, as yet, I haven't managed to resurrect the events that were listed, so it is a bit bare right now. Hopefully that will be fixed shortly.

Apologies for any inconvenience these changes cause.

As always, any suggestions, thoughts or concerns can be sent to me at

Just to let everyone know that the BFS website and forums will be offline from sometime on Saturday February 1 until probably late on Sunday February 2. This is so that they can be moved to a new server.

Apologies for the short notice, but we need to strike whilst the iron is hot.

As always, please email me with any concerns.

- Neil.

Announcements and Suggestions / Website and email issues - January 2014
« on: January 24, 2014, 02:56:59 pm »
It would appear that all email addresses are currently broken and in a way that isn't generating any errors.

I am working on resolving this issue, and the ones surrounding access to the website and forum, but cannot give an indication of how quickly this will happen. I would like to apologise on behalf of the committee for any inconvenience caused by these ongoing technical problems.

In the meantime, if you need to reach me, please do so at

Announcements and Suggestions / Website Issues: How to report
« on: February 25, 2013, 12:04:52 pm »
If you encounter an issue with either the BFS website or the BFS forums, please follow the following procedures to report it:

1. If you can, get a screen grab of any error message you get, This helps a lot in narrowing the issue down.
2. Email a description of the issue, and any screenshots, to

That's it. I will endeavour to reply to all emails received within 24 hours where possible. Sometimes I'm away running an event so might be offline, but you can rest assured that I will deal with your email as soon as I can.

- Neil.
