Directly via the Fantasycon by the Sea website I emailed del[at]fantasyconbythesea at the very start of the month to point out that my name was on the list of members, but my wife Audrey's was not, despite paying for 2 memberships at the beginning of December last year, order #1262.

I did not receive a reply.

I then, via my yahoo account, emailed enquiries[at]fantasyconbythesea on the 9th of this month to point out the ommission of my wife's name.

I have not received a reply.

I'm now posting on this forum.

So that's 3 times I've reached out.

If I've to make it a 4th time it'll be to request a full refund of the £100 we gave the society 2 months ago.

Sorry about the delay in responding to the forum. I don't get to spend much time on here these days.

I replied to your email on 31st January 2016 at 10:59am, 2 1/2 hours after your email arrived at 08:19.

I added Audrey then, but messed up and did not approve the new user. I also emailed you yesterday, letting you know I had rectified the error and also requesting an email address for Audrey. So I apologise unreservedly for messing that up.

Further to your email to Alex, I have issued your refund, and I am sorry we will not be seeing you at Fantasycon By The Sea.

We are so delighted to announce the second Guest of Honour for Fantasycon by the sea.

Nice and topical as she has been in the news recently as the Costa award winner for The Lie Tree, and also won last years BFS Fantasy novel for Cuckoo Song.

Well I can certainly fix this on iOS, but I am seeing good results on all platforms on all browsers. FF, Chrome, IE & Safari on Windows, Android and OSX. I will keep monitoring. The main thing is that customers can but tickets easily and the information is available, but many thanks for your input.

Hi guys,

It gives me great pleasure to announce Fantasycon By The Sea, the official Fantasycon 2016.

You can get loads of details from our website http://fantasyconbythesea.com/ but here is the summary.

Save the date: 23rd to 25th September 2016
Location: Grand Hotel, St Nicholas Cliff, Scarborough, YO11 2ET and The Royal, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, YO11 2HE.
The hotels are right next to each other, and events will be split between the two.
Tickets: £50/£40 BFS member (buy them here http://fantasyconbythesea.com/membership/)
Dealers room: £25 per table (with one free ticket to the con, tickets will be available by the end of the week)

We are negotiating the best rate possible with the hotel at the moment, so please bear with us.

Just to let you all know that the main website is undergoing some extreme maintenance at the moment. Bringing me out of retirement for the duration. I will try to keep disruption to a minimum, but I might have to take the site offline for a while while I repair the WordPress install. This does not and will not affect the forum.

Voting for the British Fantasy Awards is now open and will close on 31 March 2012.

The new constitution for the awards may be found here:

Members of the BFS (votes cast by a member whose membership expires after the vote is cast remain valid), members of FantasyCon 2011 and members of FantasyCon 2012 who register before voting closes on 31 March 2012 are eligible and encouraged to vote for works published for the first time in the English language in any part of the world in any format during the calendar year January to December 2011.

Each member may put forward up to three Recommendations in any category, expressed in preferential order. All Recommendations should ideally be accompanied with publication details: year of publication, publisher, and title of collection, magazine, editor, etc, if applicable.

Recommendations may not be made for the recommenderís own material.  The British Fantasy Society discourages the practice of canvassing for votes.

The four titles or names with the highest number of Recommendations will go forward to form the shortlist of nominations.

In the case of the award for Best Novel, members are invited to list up to three Recommendations in the categories of Horror and Fantasy.

I see what you all mean. I have put a really annoying pop-up window when anyone hits the site to remind them to vote. It also has a link to the constitution and voting form.

If anyone needs a reminder of their unfinished form then drop me an email and I will se what I can do.

Thanks for the additional info Lou.

I have looked into the server settings and the session timeout is set to 7200 seconds (2 hours). So it could potentially have an impact if the browser detects this in the cookie settings (although this should not happen on this appication). The 403 error is a Forbidden error. This corresponds directly to the security on the server as mentioned previously. If the page timesout you will get as specific timeout error.

Hope this helps.

If this happens to anyone else please let me know as soon as possible. You can either reply hear or email me at webamster@britishfantasysociety.org with the specific error message, and if you can, your IP address so I can trace your submission through the logs.

Sorry to hear you have been having those issues. Hopefully the issue is now resolved. The resume later should work okay, and as far as I am aware there should not be a timeout process on the form as it is a static form and is not referenced again until the submit or save for later buttons are pressed.

I would say if in doubt, click on the resume later and this will save your answers, this will save you losing too much if something does go wrong.
