Flashing Swords Magazine will open for subs on July 15th. Send your material to C. A. Keller at submissions@flashingswords.com
We intend to do an annual at this point, and then go back to quarterly at our first opportunity.
Neve is at the helm again. We're only paying a cent a word, but hopefully that will change in time.
We are not looking for cover art, but will be looking for black and white interior art.
Neve is also in charge of our fantasy novel line, so check with her for details of what she is looking for.

Janrae Frank of Daverana Enterprises suggests that, if you have stories and novels bouncing around homeless, her company is an alternative market.

Daverana publish Flashing Swords magazine, and novels, collections, and short books. Ebook and print.

Horror and it's ilk should go to Natalie - editor (at) daverana (dot) com ditto for genre comedy

Fantasy goes to Neve - submissions (at) flashingswords (dot) com

Janrae for SF and cross genre, so she can decide whether it is more appropriate for the SF editor Steve or Edo the newest member of the editorial team..

A communication from Comma Press listing readings and timings at the Manchester Independent Book Markets return this Friday and Saturday, St Ann's Square, Manchester, UK. (10am-5pm)

Quote
The Book Market brings the best independently produced novels, poetry, short fiction, art books, si-fi, horror and non-fiction right to your doorstep, at a time when high street bookshops are growing increasingly conservative...
Situated in the bustling St Ann’s Square, just off Deansgate, the market’s a great place to browse, grab a coffee, buy a book, and listen to live readings from a selection of talented performance poets and authors.
Aspiring writers can also meet representatives from the North’s finest independent presses – including Comma Press, Carcanet, Dewi Lewis, Tindal Street, Route, Crocus, Flax, Interzone, and many others. So if you’re an aspiring writer, why not make contact with publishers and put your name about?

Live readings timings: Friday and Saturday, from 12pm – 5pm

There is also a chance to win a mini library from the Manchester Book (and Art) Market. From mystery to autobiography, they’re giving away a library for book lovers, all to celebrate the Manchester Independent Book Market. See link for more.

For those of you living in or near England's Northwest around June 25 and 26 weekend there will be readings and performances at this year's Manchester Independent Publishers' Book Market in St Ann’s Square central Manchester. Among the Saturday readers will be TTA regulars Nick Royle, Conrad Williams and Tim Lees. My apologies to any whose names I didn't recognise in the list.
TTA will be there with a stall full of Interzones, Black Statics,  a few Cern Zoos, some The Harms, Alisons, Islington Crocodiles etc
Round of 16 match 1C v 2D which might yet feature England is on at 8:30 Saturday evening, as I read the FIFA timetable, and the market will have been long closed by then.

It's that time when Peter Tennant, Black Static news correspondent and book reviewer asks for news for the next issue. #17 would you believe?

The address is still whitenoise (at) ttapress.com so if you have horror and dark fantasy genre related news why not tell him.
