new books

Couple of great new books have come out from the all-action 'new' Macmillan:

"Veniss Underground" Jeff Vandermeer: weird fantasy with SF elements, or possibly an SF novel with weird fantasy elements. Anyway, it's brilliant.

"The Etched City" K.J. Bishop: surreal city-based fantasy sort of like Borges meets Mieville.

Has anybody read Neil Gaiman's "American Gods"? I just re-read it and realised how much I'd missed on the first read. Superb! No wonder it won shed loads of awards. Highly recommended.

I loved American Gods, it's one of my favourite books. I've got Etched City on my pile of books to read, which seems to be getting perilously large. Reading Demonized at the moment, by Chris Fowler. Excellent.

I've read "The Etched City" which is excellent, and I've also reviewed it and interviewed K.J.Bishop for the upcoming edition of Prism.
