I finally got round to starting my copy of Black Static 12: I absolutely love T.F. Davenport's Bryson Feeds Families.  For me, that was worth the cover price alone: fantastic. Really interesting format, nicely executed. It's horrible and wonderful.  :)

A satisfied reader so now how do I convert you to a subscriber?

The next issue is number 13 and the cover is posted here. You'll find a new Joel Lane story, plus an interview, sidebars, factoids and reviews of his two latest books.

other stories by James Cooper, Carole Johnstone, Tim Lees and Kim Lakin-Smith

Carole Johnstone had her first story in Black Static 3 and went on to get several stories in anthologies and now has a novella, Frenzy, out from Eternal Press.

Only 21 for 6 issues, order now before increased postal rates drive the price up.

The 13th Black Static mailed out today. Hopefully just before the postmen strike but, for the superstitious, are these events linked?

One of the DVDs I've reviewed for Black Static #13 is titled "13: Game Of Death", and I live at number 13...
So, I half expect this new issue will be delivered with hellfire scorch-marks or a cursed rune attached.

We couldn't expect Dave Gentry to continue as Black Static's sole artist so issue 14 has cover art by Dave Senecal and internal illustrations by Ben Baldwin, Dave Senecal, Daniele Serra and Mark Pexton. Dave Gentry's static and iconic fly will continue to disturb. I posted an image of Dave Senecal's cover here.

Gary McMahon (who is also Peter Tennants's Case Notes featured author, with reviews, factoids, interview) and Christopher Fowler provide a powerful lead to a fiction line up which includes Paul Finch, Rosanne Rabinowitz and Maurice Broaddus.

I hope you all had a good holiday and are well into a happy new year.

Our good news is that Black Static won Hub Magazine's Best Dead Tree Magazine (UK) award pipping SFX at the post.

Well done The HUB, Black Static and the other winners.

Done and done.

(And for those of you with Black Static #14, there's a lovely blurb about In The Gloaming in the White Noise section over which you might wish to cast your eyes...)
