I've been reading dozens of short graphic novels from the Star Trek, Dark Horse and BOOM! humble bundles. All entertaining, but nothing that blew my mind. Now I'm reading A Wizard's Henchman by Matthew Hughes, forthcoming from PS Publishing.

Just bought The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman.

Ack-Ack Macaque which is rather fun  ;D
This one didn't connect with me. I've tried it a couple of times, but while there's nothing wrong with the characters or the writing, I'm just not getting on with it. Happens sometimes. *shrugs*

yup ... I got a similar feeling Terry Pratchet's Children of the Sun and the first Harry Potter book (didn't read any other others) ...

it's all a matter of taste, some you like, some you don't  :)

But ... if fishes were courses then we'd all be eating hake ...

I've gone back to Stephen King. Some days you just want some plain supermarket bread with cheddar in it.

Stephen King is my cheesy sarnie fix :-)

90% of the way through Doctor Sleep

I'm reading Stay Crazy by Erica L. Satifka, about a young woman with mental health issues working in a supermarket, who begins to hear voices coming from the products. Quite an accurate portrayal of supermarket work, from what I remember of it.

It was good. Really did capture what it is like to work in a supermarket, and to suffer from mental illness (so far as I can tell, as someone who has seen rather than experienced it).

I wanted to read a book by each author to have a British Fantasy Award named after them. The Book of Kane by Karl Edward Wagner had some decent adventure stories, but Kane himself was a really unpleasant character. Now I'm reading Village Year: A Sac Prairie Journal by August Derleth, a journal of his life in a very small town, originally published in 1941. His writing about nature in the book is very impressive, especially when you consider none of it was originally intended for publication.

Have also started Jack Ketchum's Ladies' Night. Read 25% of the book in one evening - this is one of my best reads of the year 2016.

I'm dipping into 20th Century Ghosts now and then.  Pop Art was genius.   ;D

There are so many terrific stories in Joe Hill's collection 20th Century Ghosts, it's difficult to pick a favourite. "The Cape", "Bobby Conroy Comes Back From the Dead", "My Father's Mask" and "Voluntary Committal" are superb. I also love the opening piece, "Best New Horror", and "Scheherazade's Typewriter". Smashing stuff!

I'm reading Metronome by Oliver Langmead, about an elderly musician who meets a nightmare hunter in one of his dreams. Interesting so far. Also just read Groo: Friends and Foes, which has Sergio Aragones on top form, and Pirate Utopia by Bruce Sterling, a very good alternate history story about an Italian anarchist republic that did exist in our timeline, but didn't last very long.

I finally started reading Stephanie Sauter’s Gemsigns (the first in the ®Evolution trilogy), and I have to say I'm enjoying it even more than I expected to. (Well, “enjoying” may be the wrong word, it's dark and brutal, sometimes so much that it’s hard to read!) But a beautifully executed blend of cyberpunk, superhero adventure, and civil rights history.
