Maybe it's just me, but I was pleasantly surprised to receive the article by Nancy Kilpatrick on British ossuaries in the latest BFS mailshot.

I love seeking-out the weird and wonderful out-of-the-way places that never seem to make their way onto the tourist maps.

Some favourites I've found this year (East Anglian bias unfortunately):

The Wenhaston Doom: http://www.suffolkchurches.co.uk/wenhaston.html

(Demons and sinners galore - reminded me of the old Dr Who episode 'The Awakening')

Royston Cave: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royston_Cave

(Knights Templars,  witches and the Holy Grail  - surprised Dan Brown hasn't been here before!)

St Benet's Abbey: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Benet%27s_Abbey

(Notorious as a site for contemporary black magic rituals)

Any more recommendations for the off-beat tourist?
