Fantasycon 2011
« on: August 01, 2010, 06:41:41 pm »
(Yes, yes, I know, this should go in the Fcon section, however, that section is evil and apparently wants to block me from posting there in any way...  'tis very frustrating...)

Sooooooo....... if you haven't seen the news yet... we have Fcon 2011!  In Brighton!  30th September - 2nd October 2011!

The official announcement is here.

Sarah Pinborough is the awesome Mistress of Ceremonies.

It's being held in the  Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton  (the WHC venue for this year) and early registration is £35.

Oh, and it's brought to you by the madness of:
Chair - Marie O'Regan and Paul Kane
Associate Chair (Logistics/Volunteers) - Alex Davis
Hotels - Helen Hopley
Memberships - Mia Morgan-Ford
Online PR - Martin Roberts
Site - Marie O'Regan and Peter Keighrey
Dealers' Room - James Bacon

(Brighton) Rock on!

Nah, you're hiding it really well.   :P  Do you think they'll do a pitch thingy like WHC did?  Cos that would be cool...

I'm very excited too. Best thing of all - my name not being on that list. :)

It's terrific to have a FantasyCon team up and running at this early stage, but I can't take any credit at all - my role was just to receive the proposal from Marie and Paul, put it to the BFS committee for discussion and a formal vote, and then give the 2011 team the good news.

The only question now is whether to bring the kids for a long weekend at the seaside...

Jen - I've held back from creating a post in the FCon section as its new ground for me to be involved in two Cons at the same time. ;D

You're a brave man...   ;D  I mentioned the Brighton details on my livejournal yesterday and within the hour had two people saying they'd go as it was in Brighton.  Result!

Great - I'll move this thread over to the FantasyCon forum now. If anyone has a similar problem just let me know.

I was planning to attend FantasyCon 2011 anyway, but am excited to attend it in Brighton. Possibly because I didn't feel the need to drive anywhere in Brighton, but I did in Nottingham and the experience of doing so in the latter was akin to cleansing the bloody ∆gean Stables!

...sorry, bit of a bad flash-back there.

Thought there were postal details in the BFS news announcement thingy, but that appears to have disappeared...
Far as I know, the Fcon '11 crew are in the process of getting their Fcon website up and running so nothing there either yet, but there will most likely be forms available at Fcon next month.

In the meantime, I'll drop Marie an email and see what's what.   :-*

I think they just wanted their launch to be a little softer at first... But all the booking details will be in Dark Horizons 57, which should be on its way to you early in September.

Just send a cheque directly to Marie, if you want to ensure the early reg fee
