Realms of Fantasy shuts its doors
« on: October 18, 2010, 10:07:10 pm »
Posted on the RoF website is the sad news that Realms of Fantasy is to close once again.

"Realms of Fantasy has ceased operations as of 10/18/10. Please do not send your manuscripts to us. We would love to consider them but can no longer offer them a home. We wish you luck finding a home for your stories elsewhere. Thanks so much for your support over the years."

For more details, see the following link:

Damn. As little ago as February they published Harlan Ellison's first brand new short story in years.

I have some back issues of RoF and it was often a beautifully illustrated and laid-out publication.

As with so many things, it appears that the current state of the global economy is to blame. But it does mean that yet another avenue for short fiction has bitten the dust.

And there's been some interesting discussions about the recent developments here:

Here's another, more positive, take on it. It seems that the same editorial team are going to be running RoF and many of the old columnists are staying on board.
