Hi... new to the board and a new member of the BFS.

I'm a British horror writer and my stuff has appeared in odds and sods round and about, my favourite writers at the moment are Rhys Hughes, Clive Barker and Magnus Mills, my first novels are due for release in trade paperback this year through a small american press (Gallows) and I'm generally looking forward to getting to know folks on here and discovering some new works and writers.

On a side note, I'd like to pose one question. Is it normal to pay the £35 BFS membership sub fee and get no notification email? My Paypal account indicates that the money's been taken but I've got nothing in terms of info or contact.

Other than that.... a big hello!  ;D

Thanks Jim... I guess the issue is the BFS may need to wait for the payment to clear at their end... I still can't fathom how Paypal works after all these years.

I joined a couple of months ago and didn't hear anything for ages, then some whopping big books arrived by post.  That was better than a welcome message.

I'd give it a couple of weeks then query it by email if nothing happens.  There's a membership secretary on the big list of contacts on the main page.

Welcome Liam & Stewart.

I've sent an email to the membership secretary to ask about membership acknowledgement emails after joining using Paypal, as we've had a couple of friends from other fandoms join recently and contact us (as known BFS members) to ask if it was normal not to receive any welcome emails etc.

Membership secretary Marion Pitman got back to me to say that due to the committee changes before Christmas and the large numbers of people joining/rejoining in the last few months the email acknowledgements, and new member mailings have become very delayed.

She hopes they will be back on track with them soon.
