In theory I agree with you, Des. But that issue of the Journal was 'full' and ready for typesetting by October.

But there was an eight page article with some very up to date news in it that must have been added after October. No point in debating this now, I know. But it is disappointing that the Journal that has been produced two and half months following Joel's death did not carry a printed BFS obituary by someone who knew him well - as another print publication did a few weeks ago.

To be honest, Des, I haven't really looked at the Journal yet, so I have no idea what's in it. Too busy editing for the Alchemy Press...

Yes, like I said, aside from the BFS news, the non-fiction material in this issue had been assembled by last June. Any articles submitted or pitched more recently than that would have been under consideration for #11 and #12.

The BFS News section was pulled together over the course of the weekend it took me to typeset the journal. It felt appropriate to include an item about Joel, given his editorial role on Dark Horizons and the event planned for FantasyCon.

There are blanks included at the back, as in some previous issues, because our printers work to signatures of sixteen, and 168pp isn't an even working.

Thanks very much for posting the link to these reviews, Des - it's great to read them, and to reflect on the themes and threads that you're tracing between the stories.

All the best,
