FantasyCon 2015 Souvenir Book
« on: March 31, 2015, 09:32:08 PM »

I'm surprised this hasn't slipped out yet. For my sins (there are not that many, but you know...) I have been appointed to edit and produce the FantasyCon 2015 souvenir book (please don't laugh). First and foremost, I need to include bits by and about the GoH, etc. But I am also open to other suggestions to make this a memento to treasure. So send ideas in, let me know if you are willing to write items/provide internal artwork (b&w), et cetera. I will also offer advertising -- internal and back cover (in colour) in due course. I aim to produce a perfect-bound book approx A5 in dimensions. Thanks for your patience.

From Stephen Theaker, I will require the short list for the BFS Awards, and from Allen Ashley any details on the short story competition. I also need an up-to-date BFS advert with correct subscriptions and contact details. I'm sure there are other things I'll need. I'll let you know.  ;)

If everything goes to plan, it'll be available on about July 1. I'll also include a link to the 2016 voting form.

Hi Peter,
That's great news that you are producing the souvenir booklet.
Regarding the BFS Competition: It closes on 30 June and, to be honest, I don't start reading the stories until the school holidays - Late July, early August. That may well prove too late for you.
In the meantime, I would be very happy to write something for the booklet. Maybe something on keeping poetry alive in our genre...? Or anything else you want to commission. Respond to me here or via one of my many email addresses.

Might be interesting to include the list of attendees. Or to let them submit a short sentence to introduce themselves, if there was room. That'd be very handy.

I hope to include a list of attendees but I suspect there won't be space for individual biogs.

I'll email you, Allen

Calling all BFS/FantasyCon members who live in. or know well, Nottingham. I require information about public transport in the city, particularly about the tram (does it run past the hotel?); lists of recommended restaurants and pubs in the vicinity of the convention venue and the city centre; and suggested places to visit for those arriving early/staying late, or for bored partners. Please email me -- fc15souvenirbook [at] gmail.com. Thank you.

Does Nottingham have a Tourist Info place? I guess they might with the Robin Hood connection. If they do, would it be worth contacting them to see if they can answer your questions?

I know, Caroline -- I was aiming to give BFS and FantasyCon members an opportunity to contribute, and to make personal recommendations.

Ah, yes, I realise that, Peter. Better to get first-hand info of course.  8)
