Humber SFF Made In Hull 25th Feb
« on: February 08, 2017, 06:47:21 PM »
Humber SFF gets all cultured this time, (not that it wasn't to start with!) as we head into The City of Culture for the first of three planned socials there.
Our next meet up takes place on Saturday February 25th in Hull Central Library’s James Reckitt Reading Room, to recognise the impressive selection of genre on their shelves, and of course to support libraries.  This time we will feature three award-worthy Science Fiction and Fantasy authors, themed to tie in with the first of the City of Culture's Seasons Made In Hull.  Don't worry, everyone can escape to the pub after!

•   Jim Hawkins’ screenplay was nominated for a BAFTA, but he will be reading from his latest collection Fragments of Tomorrow. Jim’s prose work has regularly appeared in “The Best Of ” styled anthologies and his short stories can regularly be found in Interzone, one of the UK’s leading genre magazines. Jim inspired new writing for both screen and novel through the Hull University’s Creative Writing Degree and is one of three authors who will be reading on the day.

•   Lee Harrison's debut fantasy novel, The Bastard Wonderland, was recently featured on the Not the Booker Prize Longlist, a real coup for a Hull-based genre author! Lee is currently working with First Story promoting literacy within schools in the area.

•   Sheffield based author Steven Poore is well known to many BFS members, his novel, Heir to the North, was shortlisted for the British Fantasy Award. Several of Steven Poore’s short stories have been published by the award winning Fox Spirit Books.
