British Fantasy Awards 2018
« on: January 03, 2018, 04:37:29 pm »
Is there going to be an interactive list of suggestions for this year's award? This time last year people were asking when the voting was due to start, never mind making suggestions.

I know you've already got the answer, Mike, but in case anyone else comes here looking for the links here they are, as supplied by the BFA administrator Katherine Fowler on Facebook and in the last BFS bulletin:

Here's the form for adding items to the list.

And here's the spreadsheet that produces.

The form includes the interesting new audio category, currently defined in the awards constitution as "A spoken word audio work (e.g. audio book, radio drama, podcast) performed by one or more participants and published for the first time in the English language in any part of the world in any audio format during the relevant year."

I saw -- in an email I think, which I no longer have -- a request for jurors for the 2018 awards. Can't find any info about this on the BFS website, so am I imagining things? If not have all juries been selected?

I do recommend it to members, by the way. I really enjoyed the experience of being on the comics jury last year, plus, if BFS members volunteer, it means BFS members will still be involved in deciding the awards, even if we don't vote for them directly.

This monthís bulletin says that voting will begin soon, so this might be a good time for members to check the suggestions list and let the awards admin know about any mistakes on it, especially with regard to your own projects.

I know you've already got the answer, Mike, but in case anyone else comes here looking for the links here they are, as supplied by the BFA administrator Katherine Fowler on Facebook and in the last BFS bulletin:

Hope that members get to make suggestions for the Karl Edward Wagner Award this year. Itíd be good as well to have a bit of information about the Legends of FantasyCon award. I know itís not a BFA, but itíd be interesting to know how it is decided, e.g. whether itís by the BFS committee like the KEW award currently is, or by the FantasyCon committee.

Just noticed that The Alchemy Press has been nominated. Since we published nothing in 2017 please remove us from the longlist.
