Looking for recommendations on art book printing
« on: January 20, 2018, 10:51:56 am »
Hi folks,
I'm working on an illustrated anthology with an American author. We're planning to release a standard paperback size edition but would like to also have the option of a larger format to show off the artwork, fancier paper etc, up to double the size. I was wondering if anyone here had good experiences with a particular company ? The book will feature at least 24 full page illustrations plus page decorations etc, all in black and white as I specialise in charcoal work. I'd like to get some quotes before completing final versions of the drawings to be I'm sure of my maximum page dimensions, so would be very grateful for any suggestions.

Cheers,
Karen

Most of the books I've worked on lately are text-only, so I don't have any suggestions from personal experience. You've probably thought of this already, but you could do worse than looking on the copyright page of a small press book you like and seeing who printed it. A couple of recent PS Publishing books say they were printed and bound by T.J. International, so maybe they'd be worth a look: https://www.tjinternational.ltd.uk/services/printing/

Thanks Rolnikov,
will have a look. We've contacted a fair number of printers already and either had no response or that they don't work to that kind of scale. It's driving us nuts lol as I can't start on any of the final pieces until that's organised. On the other hand, I am amassing a very gratifying pile of reference material ready to go...

Cheers,
Karen
