New events from Alt.Fiction/Writing East Midlands

To celebrate the release of his latest novel, The Islanders, Alt.Fiction/Writing East Midlands hosts a reading, Q+A and signing with Christopher Priest at 7.00 pm on Wednesday 14th September at QUAD, Market Place, Cathedral Quarter, Derby DE1 3AS.

“Christopher Priest is one of the UK’s leading authors of literary science fiction, best known for his book The Prestige, later filmed with Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Hugh Jackman.”

There will also be a screening of the film of The Prestige.

And on Thursday 15th September at 7.00 pm Robert Rankin will be appearing at Phoenix Square, Leicester.

“To celebrate the paperback release of The Mechanical Messiah and Other Marvels of the Modern Age, his tenth novel with Gollancz, Robert Rankin will be talking books, Brentford, sprouts and much more.

Robert was first published in 1981, and since then has written over 30 novels. He describes himself as a writer of Far Fetched Fiction, in the hope that he will one day get his own section in bookstores.

His most recent titles include The Brightonomicon, The Toyminator, Necrophenia, The Da-da-de-da-da Code and The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse.”
