The Best Horror of the Year edited by Ellen Datlow

The Ellen Datlow annual The Best Horror of the Year #3 is now available from Night Shade Books ($15.99). As one comes to expect, any anthology edited by Datlow is to be treasured ‘ and this book looks to be no exception. Here are 21 stories from among the very best horror tales that were originally published in 2010. The authors selected for this volume include Christopher Fowler, Glen Hirshberg, Joe R. Lansdale, Tanith Lee, Richard Christian Matheson, Mark Morris, Reggie Oliver, Norman Partridge and Nicholas Royle. Datlow tops the anthology with a roundup of the year and ends with a list of Honourable Mentions (or near misses). The only downer is that so much of the fabulous cover artwork is masked by the title boxes.

Ellen Datlow’s The Best Horror of the Year and Stephen Jones’s Mammoth Book of Best New Horror are two of the most indispensible books for any horror reader. (In addition, the BFS gets a nice mention in the acknowledgments.)
