The British Fantasy Society also has a publishing arm and each year members will receive an exclusive, full-length anthology featuring some of the brightest and most exciting names in the business.  Members receive exclusive material – if you join or re-new your membership before 31st May 2009, you will receive Slights by Kaaron Warren due to published by Angry Robot on July 1st (RRP £7.99).
 The British Fantasy Society’s 2009 Short Story Competition is now open! The winner will be annouced at the British Fantasy Awards. Prizes: 1st place. £50. Publication in one of the BFS journals. One year’s membership of the BFS. 2nd place. £25. Publication in one of the BFS journals. Entry: free to members; £5 for non-members. Eligibility: you must not have been paid for the publication of more than three short stories. Full rules: http://tiny.cc/bfscomp Closing date: 31 August 2009 FantasyCon Art Show FantasyCon 2009 is delighted to announce that the Art Show — sadly missed by previous attendees and artists alike — makes a return this year. We aim to display paintings, prints, photographs and 3D pieces. We are busy contacting artists and we have received positive responses: they are keen to exhibit their work. Due to massive overstocks the BFS has decided to donate old BFS Publications to the housing & homeless charity, Shelter, who now have dedicated book stores within many of their shops. We wanted to offer you the chance to stock up on any titles you might enjoy. All titles are free; all we ask is that you pay for the P&P. This will be worked out individually, depending on how many books you may choose. This is a once in a lifetime offer that will end on 31st May 2009 or while stocks last. After this date everything will be donated to Shelter. Future events: The British Fantasy Society is holding its annual convention, Fantasycon 2009, in Nottingham, UK, over the weekend 18-20 September. The next two BFS Open Nights in London - at The George due to the sucess of the POWERS: Secret Histories launch – have been scheduled for 3rd July & 4th December… the dates and further details will be confirmed in the next newsletter. Members receive a deep discount (typically 30%) off the commercial publications produced by the society.  £10 off the registration fee for the society’s annual convention, Fantasycon.  Free entry in the BFS Short Story Competition Members of the BFS are entitled to submit a link to the BFS links library. Add promotional links for book sales through the online shopping facility. Note: All links will be assessed and checked for suitability.
