British Fantasy Society Short Story Competition 2014 Results

Allen Ashley, the judge for this year’s competition, reports the following:

My thanks to everybody who entered the British Fantasy Society Short Story Competition 2014. This year I received a healthy crop of entries with 84 eligible stories submitted for consideration. I read every story thoroughly and silently. I read a large percentage of the stories twice, three times or more. After much deliberation, I can now announce that the three winners are:

First place: “The Fenchurch Reckonings” by Jean Levy

Second place: “Be Careful What You Wish For” by Nikki Pratt

Third place: “The Mine Field” by Jane Fox

As well as their authors winning prizes, all three of these stories will appear in a future issue of “The BFS Journal”, so look out for that.

For those of you who didn’t make the top three this year, it was a hard task judging all the entries received and many of the stories should find a suitable home elsewhere. Thank you for your patience during the judging process. You are now free to submit your story to other markets.

Allen’s latest book is “Dreaming Spheres: Poems of the Solar System” a poetry collection written with Sarah Doyle published by PS Publishing. Link here:–sarah-doyle-2245-p.asp
