Alt.Fiction is made up of a number of different types of sessions. Here’s what you can expect on the day.
Readings: The author or authors will read a segment from one of their books or stories.
Q+A: This is your chance to pose a question to the author or panellists, which they will answer in turn.
Mass Book Launch: A chance to hear small segments from newly released books, giving a taster of all the authors’ work.
Panel Discussion: A discussion on the relevant topic among the members of the panel.
Workshop Session: Workshops present the opportunity for you to get new ideas for writing, or advice about writing and publishing, from established figures in the field. These will often involve practical exercises, so bring your pen and paper (and a willing attitude!)
In addition: Alt Fiction 2010 will have a new and second-hand bookfair running in parallel to the other events of the day and there will also be some improvised comedy in the bar in the evening. If comedy is not your thing, then there is always the option of a late night film showing in cinema 2. This is likely to be a horror!
Alt Fiction is scheduled for 12 June at the QUAD in derby.
