Can’t Stop the Serenity

The second Can’t Stop the Serenity Nottingham Event has been announced: “Can’t Stop the Serenity is a global event consisting of screenings of Joss Whedon’s film Serenity to raise money for the charity Equality Now. It started back in 2006, when events were held in 47 countries across the world. In 2006, CSTS raised over $65,000, and in 2009 raised $137,000. Since 2006 80 Cities in 9 Countries have raised over $415,000 for Equality Now and other Charities.

CSTS Nottingham first joined the cause last year, and with over 80 attendees it was a good start to a little publicised event. This year we are hoping to be even bigger and better. The screening will be held in room A48 of the Sir Clive Granger Building on the University of Nottingham’s University Park Campus, on Sunday June 13th, starting at 2:30pm (doors open at 2pm). We are also planning to have a post-event shindig at a local venue, with barbecue food, themed drinks, and more. We are still finalising the details, which will be published as soon as we know them for sure.

Tickets will be £5, and you can either buy them in person at a meeting of the University of Nottingham’s Science Fiction & Fantasy Society, or via the PayPal link on the society’s website.”
