Charles Stross is the guest speaker at the Birmingham Science Fiction Group’s November meeting (5 November at the Briar Rose Hotel, Bennetts Hill, Birmingham, at 7.30 pm [admission Â£4.00]). From the BSFG website:
Stross started as part of the Leeds mob in the ’80s and has progressed to become one of the more prolific and critically successful writers of the new millennium. His first published story was “The Boys” in Interzone in 1987. His first major award was the Hugo for best novella in 2005 (for “The Concrete Jungle”). His novel Accelerando won the Locus Award in 2006 and the first three books of his Merchant Princes series won the Sidewise Award in 2007. He has had seventeen novels published in seven years.
