We’ll be kicking off the day with a panel looking at the role and influence of feminism in speculative fiction over the last 50 years, with Tiffani Angus, Teika Marija Smits and Lucy McLaren.

Tiffani Angus is a novelist and short story writer. Her 2020 debut novel, Threading the Labyrinth, was shortlisted for the BSFA best novel award and the BFS best novel and best newcomer awards. A 2009 Clarion graduate, she was a senior lecturer in creative writing and publishing for a decade. Her research interests include the depiction of women’s bodies in apocalyptic fiction, and she’s the co-writer of a forthcoming writing book (working title Spec Fic for Newbies) due in early 2023 from Luna Press.
Teika Marija Smits is a Nottinghamshire-based writer and freelance editor. Her speculative short stories have been published in Enchanted ConversationShoreline of Infinity, ReckoningGreat British Horror 6 and Best of British Science Fiction (2018 & 2020). She is delighted by the fact that Teika means fairy tale in Latvian.

Lucy McLaren is a fantasy author and professional counsellor, passionate about writing stories that include a realistic representation and exploration of mental health issues. Her debut novel, Awakening: The Commune’s Curse Book 1, released from Santa Fe Writers Project on 1st May 2022.

The rest of the day’s events will be announced in the coming days, but here’s a little teaser for you:
