From Little Brown: “To celebrate the launch of our new horror writer, Christopher Ransom, we’re inviting UK & Ireland based horror scribes (aged 18+) to send us their best ‘haunted house’ themed short story for our Haunted Houses fiction competition. The winner will be the writer of the (original, previously un-published) short story that, in the opinion of the judges, is the best (spookiest, most entertaining, most original) we receive by the closing date. Their prize will be a spooky weekend break at the beautiful Jacobean Feathers Hotel in the heart of historic Ludlow and the winning story will also be posted on the Little, Brown Book Group website. Ten runners-up will each receive a special boxed edition of The Birthing House. Entries should be a minimum of 5,000 words and a maximum of 14,000. Closing date: midnight GMT on Friday 13th March 2009.†For entry details and T&C, go to The Birthing House website.
