‘Necrophilia/Necrophobia’, will be held at Lancaster University
in June 2011.
The aim of the conference is to consider the paradoxes of contemporary representations of death in Anglo-American cultures, which are both terrified of and fascinated by the prospect of dying or witnessing an apocalypse.
The conference will feature a conversation between two top contemporary horror authors (Sarah Pinborough and Conrad Williams), keynote lectures by world renowned specialists in Gothic Studies and theories of death and haunting (Professor Fred Botting and Dr. Dale Townsend) plus the screening of a specially commissioned short film by Mark Robbins of Monkeypuzzlle films (a trailer from one of his earlier films can be seen here).
The website will go live in October.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions in the meantime.
David will also be promoting the event at FantasyCon 2010 say hello if plan on attending!
