Ghostly open mic charity night in Worcester

“Fans of the unique genre open mic night ’42’ are in for a treat this October, as the popular event joins forces with the Rotary Club of Worcester Vigornia to present a Gothic Halloween Special.

To be held at Hillcrest, Saint Johns, Worcester, in benefit of the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign, a darkly spooky evening will be staged beside a bonfire, with baked potatoes and chilli for all, and some of the best genre talent in the county cuing up their best work for the dark season.

A host of familiar names well loved at ’42’ and on the open mic circuit are set to participate: Including John Taylor, Fergus McGonigal, Suz Winspear, Math Jones, Craigus Barry and Richard Clay.  There will be work from co-founder Glenn James, Poet Holly McGill is set to make her debut, and we have a contribution from American Poet and Writer Jackie Summers from Massachusetts, whose work was featured to a marvellous reception during the August ’42’.

Tickets are £5, and all proceeds will go to the Worcestershire Breast Cancer Unit Campaign, the Rotary Club’s featured charity in 2011.

’42’ is a unique genre specific open mic night, which was founded by writers Angela and Glenn James, and which opened in Worcester during March 2011.  It has since gone from strength to strength, and other 42 nights are due to open in cities across the UK shortly.  They have just joined forces with notable American Magazine “The Eerie Digest”, and a feature article about their collaboration is a prominent feature of the October edition.

’42’ has been supported by the Worcester Music Festival since the word go, specifically Chris Bennion, one of the WMF founders, and Glenn and Angela are very proud of their link with such a prestigious Festival.

Tickets are available on the night at the gate, and for further information contact Geoff and Polly Robbinson on 01905 339 433, or email, or Glenn and Angela James via  or phone 01782 860389”
