Halloween ghost story writing event in Brighton

Story Scavenger and Beneath The Pier Writing Group present a Halloween Ghost Story Scavenger Hunt on Monday 31 October 2011 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm

“Get spooky, get scary, get dressed up – and join us beneath the pier for a one-off SCARY Story Scavenger Hunt.

Meeting beneath Brighton pier, you’ll be given your ghostly mission (Creative Writing Exercise) in a sealed envelope. Break the seal and follow the instructions to create your own unique ghost story or tale of horror. Eavesdrop on people’s conversations, explore hidden spaces or find a trail of strange objects then return to our special base for the evening – the appropriately spookily named – Mesmerist Pub – with your notes and scribblings and turn what you found into a tale to send shivers down spines.

All you need to do is:

  • rummage through your dressing-up box and wear at least one humble item of Halloween Fancy Dress (whether you’re a minimalist or really want to go to town – it’d be great if you’d get in the Halloween spirit with us)
  • bring your torch
  • bring your notepad and pen

And then come along and join us for some All Hallows’ Evening writing and tale telling.

This is a chance to meet other Brighton writers, have a pint, write together and share ghost stories. We have reserved the upstairs bar at The Mesmerist especially for the night, and their lovely staff will happily supply you with drinks and nibbles to lubricate your creativity and inspiration. We’ll be writing until 9:00pm and then after that talking, drinking and sharing our ghost stories.

If you need some hints on how to write a ghost story  then why not join Story Scavenger for a FREE workshop at Brighton Waterstones on Thursday 6 October at 5:30pm  for a 90 minute workshop with a scary theme. You can find out more about Story Scavenger Hunts and free workshops here .

The Mesmerist is on Prince Albert Street in the South Lanes.”
