World Fantasy Awards shortlist announced

The shortlist for the 2012 World Fantasy Awards has been announced. Nominees include: Stephen King’s 11.22.63, A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin, and Lavie Tidhar’s Osama from PS Publishing in the Best Novel Category; A Book of Horrors edited by Stephen Jones (Jo Fletcher Books) and The Weird edited by Ann & Jeff VanderMeer in Best Anthology; Jo Fletcher has been nominated in the Special Award Professional category; and Reggie Oliver’s Mrs Midnight and Other Stories (Tartarus Press) is one of the nominees for Best Collection. Along with the nomination for Mrs Midnight, Tartarus Press pick up two other nominations. In the Special Award Non-professional category Ray Russell & Rosalie Parker have been nominated for their work at Tartarus, and Mark Valentine is also nominated in that category for the Tartarus publication Wormwood which he edits.

The judges for the Awards this year are John Berlyne, James P. Blaylock, Stephen Gallagher, Mary Kay Kare and Jacques Post. The awards will be presented at the World Fantasy Convention Banquet. In addition, 2012 World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented to Alan Garner and George R.R. Martin.
